Kwanzaa2010_Resized_002_ThumbOver the summer, B.E.A.N. (Becoming Environmentally Aware Nationwide) continued the successes of Alchemical's Community Gardening Initiatives by finishing its final phase of renovating the Kwanzaa Village Garden on August 12, 2010. The Eco-village and Intentional Community frameworks which Alchemical embodies can be used to inform current events and issues in our community.  In response to the Syracuse Police Department's COPS proposal to place 9 surveillance cameras within the west side neighborhoods of Syracuse, Alchemical has prepared a written opinion to share an alternative way of considering the outcome to this issue.

Visions_Resized_020_ThumbWith special thanks to Redhouse Arts Radio (RAR):

On Saturday October 2nd, in conjunction with the Westcott Bulb Project, The Glossary Link Alchemical Nursery hosted a screening of “Visions of Utopia” (Part One), a documentary from The Glossary Link Fellowship for Intentional Community profiling 7 diverse communities in the United States. 58 fellow community members from CNY shared the film together at the Westcott Community Center.  After the viewing, Frank Cetera, Board President of The Alchemical Nursery opened the panel discussion which included 8 representatives from 7 different communities in Central New York. These are their stories.  Click through for the audio presentation of the discussion panel.

Westcott_2010_Resized_000ThumbThe weather held out just perfectly for another Syracuse favorite - the Westcott Street Cultural Fair.  Alchemical was at the party on Sunday September 19th, and we asked passers-by a few simple questions:
