"Food Forest Gardening for Culture and Health"
The Alchemical Nursery will establish an edible forest garden relating life giving and healthy lifestyle
aspects of perennial fruits, berries, vegetables, herbs, tubers, as part of personal wellness needs and
health care/maintenance. The garden will be modeled after our current project at 3100 South Salina St,
the Rhama Edible Forest Snack Garden, in coordination with a health care related site such as a clinic,
doctor’s office, or wellness institution.
The new twist for a second forest garden that would build upon our previous success is that Polyculture
guilds planted in the forest garden would be modeled on ethnic/cultural plant/food heritages. Thus,
providing education on international and multi-cultural diets and ecologies, while providing a nursery for
propagating these plants to people from many nations, as well as American citizens with an interest in
cultural gastronomy and plant diversity.
