sunflowers_web_icon.jpgThe residents of the Hawley-Green neighborhood took advantage of a beautiful day on Saturday to amplify a rain barrel with some artwork.  The barrel was one of many distributed by Syracuse Grows, a fiscally sponsored project of the Glossary Link Alchemical Nursery, during the Earth Day Garden Resource Drive at Lipe Art Park.  The rain barrels were constructed by volunteers from Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Onondaga Earth Corps youth workers.

The barrel will be placed in the newly forming Hawley-Green Vegetable Garden located on Wayne St.   Association President Rebecca Reetskin organized the painting project at the WiFi Garden, another green space used for community events in Hawley-Green.   See full size pics of both sides of the barrel after the jump.

newpage.jpgOPEN HOUSE for Syracuse’s FIRST CO-WORKING space

The Glossary Link Alchemical Nursery Project announces an Open House for “Alchemical Spaces”, a co-working office and studio space at the Gear Factory. The Open House will take place on Thursday, May 7th from 11 AM – 2 PM.  Coffee, tea and refreshments will be available.

Co-Working is taking the country by storm as many people are recognizing the benefits that a shared working space can bring.  These benefits include shared cost of rent and equipment use, synergistic and creative working environment alongside fellow workers, and the flexibility of self-employment with the sturdiness of a permanent office space away from your house/apartment.

Other features and benefits of joining the “Alchemical Spaces” co-working office and studio group include:

skitchinglogo.jpg This is the first in a series of posts highlighting the great work being done by the projects within Alchemical's Glossary Link Quinta Essentia Glossary Link Fiscal Sponsorship program.

Skitching is the act of clinging onto a vehicle, using its momentum and energy to get somewhere at low to no expense.  At Skitching Press, we do just that.  The embodiment of energy in information within news media is kept in circulation, allowing it additional exposure for absorption by the public before it disappears beneath headlines and into archives.

earth09.jpgHappy Earth Day 2009.

Although this day falls on a Wednesday, and many of you are working jobs, caring for families, spending time with friends, grocery shopping, taking care of chores and all the rest of the rigmarole of life.  Take time to:

Step outside onto Mother Earth, take off your shoes and socks, it's a beautiful day, let yourself feel connected to the ground beneath you, the grass, the soil, the lifeforms living in the space underneath that we so take for granted.  Let your energy flow into the Earth, then back into yourself, and rise upward through your spine.  Imagine it leaping upward from the top of your head, and flowing into the highest point you can imagine, and then recirculating back towards you.  Imagine that energy then connecting with all the energy of the billions of other people and animals and plants that call this world their home.  And feel the pulse of life or spirit, and know that there is only one Earth, and it is ours to love and to steward.

***** Glossary Link Compost Bins Maintenance at Lipe *****

We hope that some of you are planning on getting out next Saturday, April 25th to celebrate Earth Day.  Don't forget that the Syracuse Grows Resource Drive is taking place at Lipe Art Park from 10-12.  If you can donate any garden tools or supplies for the city-wide community garden network, then this is the time and place to drop them off.

Alchemical will be undertaking maintenance of the compost bins we installed at Lipe Art Park. . . . . Add a comment
