  Where?

Salt

As the third heavenly substance in alchemy, salt represents the final manifestation of the perfected philosopher's stone, which is the goal of the Great Work (alchemy). In the material work of the ancient alchemists, the philospher's stone was a magical object whose presence could immediately perfect any substance or situation. Locally, Syracuse, New York provides fertile grounds for urban sustainability initiatives. There is just the right blend of resources and community support to make projects such as ours manifest. In alchemy, salt represents a medium for the transformation of our urban lifestyles and landscapes. That Syracuse is known historically as the Salt City is a symbolic sign of the enormous potential for sustainable pursuits.

The Great Work is happening everywhere and on every level.

Beyond our physical pocket here in upstate New York, we are aware of the need for sustainable cities,
nationally and globally.

The disfunction we have created through urban development must be addressed globally.
Salt helps to cleanse and heal the wounds we have inflicted on ourselves, each other, and the earth.
