On Saturday January 28th Occupy Syracuse will join with Food not Bombs to host the first ever Occupy Ball, outside of Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner’s lavish campaign fundraiser at the Landmark Theatre. Protestors will highlight the destructive role of money in our elections. The general public is encouraged to come and participate.
Attendees to Miner’s fundraiser have paid $1,000 for the opportunity to sip cocktails with the Mayor. Occupy Syracuse and members of the Syracuse community will be on hand to find out what they hope to buy with that $1,000. Food not Bombs will be serving free hot meals to those in need.
Join us and enjoy a night of protesting and ballroom dancing. Festive attire encouraged (dress warm, we will be outside). Admission to the Ball is $0.01 or a food item for a future Food not bombs event (canned or boxed food item [no meat], bottled sauces, produce, etc.).
