A message from the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets.  ~The Alchemical Web Sprites

Dear fellow gardener,

While you and many other gardeners across New York have been community gardening for years, others are just beginning to realize the benefits of green space to our health and the advantages of food that is grown closer to home.  Community gardens can now be found at the White House, USDA offices, and more.

New York Community Garden Census

As part of the ongoing effort to support and preserve New York’s community gardens, New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets needs your help to create the first database of the New York’s community gardens using this questionnaire.  We aim to reach out to as many community gardens as possible so that our information is accurate and complete.  The survey should only take about 30 minutes from start to finish, and we ask that gardens enter their information by June 30, 2010.

**PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY!** We need your help to reach out to the whole state!

The information that you share with us about your garden will help to accurately portray the wonderful contributions that community gardeners make to New York and our sustainable future.  Please help us by filling out the survey completely and accurately, only one time per garden, and please spread word that this is taking place. We need all the help we can get to involve as many gardens as we can.

If the link above doesn’t work, please copy and paste this survey link into your web browser: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RJ8VNZJ, and if your garden is in any of the five boroughs of NYC, please use this survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FW7Z5N8

Feel free to call or email me with any questions.  Thanks for your help and all of your great work! We wish you a happy and healthy growing season!

Best,

Mara Gittleman, NYS Ag and Markets
